UPDATE Appetence Active Birth Workshop
Build confidence and trust in your body, mind, and partner to birth naturally.
Our Appetence Active Birth workshop led by our midwife Amy, gives you both the utmost confidence in your body and the natural process of birth, teaching you and your partner all the tools & knowledge, to birth naturally.
Although we cannot control birth, there is SO much you can do to influence it and enhance your natural birth experience.
The one thing we do have full control over however, is being the primary decision maker of our birth, creating a satisfying and empowering birth experience no matter what happens.
What will you learn & receive in our Appetence Active birth workshop?
As a midwife, I teach you and your partner this vital knowledge for natural birth:
How the hormones work in labour, and how we can optimise the flow of your hormones to allow labour to flow naturally and efficiently
The birth partners ESSENTIAL role in labour
How to create space in the pelvis to allow baby decend through the pelvis- Positions and movement (active labour)
How labour and birth actually work- progression of contractions, how baby descends etc. We practise this through a mock labour and role play positions, movements, supportive techniques from the partner
How to effectively make evidence based decisions that align with you and your partner- feel confident and responsible into your decision making process (important for an emotionally satisfying birth experience)
How to cope with pain in labour- 7 techniques to build your resilience towards labour pains
ADDIT We explore this ‘Edge if Tolerance’ deeper in the extended workshop and work thoruhg each of the 7 techniques during the workshop rather than explaining them and sending you home to practise them
Pain relief options
If you do decide some sort of medical intervention is necessary (epidural, induction) how to keep it to the natural path as much as possible (NBC is a big believer that birth doesn’t have to be 100% medical or natural, balance is key, and safety is first priority) ADDIT we run through our famous ‘mock labour’ for thes interventions also to really lock it in to the minds of the birth partners
If labour does stall (leading to a C-SECTION or INSTRUMENTAL BIRTH) how to recognise the stall, perform some midwifery movements and positions to move the obstacle from within the pelvis, allowing your labour to continue as nature intended :)
ADDIT Deep dive into fears or both you and your birth partner towards birth, and reconciling this fear to take away its power
ADDIT How to soften into the feminine qualities you need for birth. ie. Recieving, surrender, letting go of control
ADDIT If baby is posterior (which is common and CAN BE a variation of normal (refer to our blog about this here)) how to labour with this posterior baby to still have the vaginal birth you desire
Your partner will receive a booklet that is his birth bible- explains every step of the way what is going on, what he is to do to support you and enhance your natural birth progression.
You will receive a 5 video series to practise regularly developing your skills on coping with pain in labour.
Regular check ins from our Midwife Amy to hold you accountable to your mock contraction prep, fine tune your birth preference checklist, help discuss decisions that may arise for you during the remainder of your pregnancy. You have access to Amy for all birthing questions have.
